Gymnastics Programs

Leap offers coached gymnastics classes for children across Markham and Stouffville, from parent-and-tot and preschool programs to recreational, advanced recreational and competitive pathways.

Summer class options are on the Camps and Summer Programs page.

Recreational Programs

Leap’s recreational programs provide structured weekly gymnastics instruction for children at every stage, from their first parent-and-tot class through advanced recreational training.

As a Gymnastics Ontario member club, Leap uses age-, ability- and readiness-appropriate progressions to support safe and consistent skill development. Depending on the program, gymnasts develop skills across vault, bars, beam and floor while building strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, spatial awareness and confidence.

Children progress from their current ability level rather than following a curriculum that begins each September. This allows new gymnasts to join during the year while existing gymnasts continue working toward increasingly challenging skills.

Recreational classes operate from September to June, and children may join in any month where space is available. Enrolment is month-to-month, with no requirement to commit to the full school year.

Once registered, your child remains in the same weekly class and continues to be enrolled until you choose to withdraw. Families do not need to register again each month.

Withdrawal requires 15 days’ written notice. Please review our Cancellation and Refund Policy for complete billing, withdrawal and refund details.

Gymnastics Ontario Participant Registration

Leap Gymnastics is a member club of Gymnastics Ontario. Participants in the September-to-June recreational classes listed on this page are registered with Gymnastics Ontario in accordance with its participant registration requirements.

A $50 annual participant registration fee is charged separately from program tuition and is added at checkout when applicable. It is charged once per participant during the Gymnastics Ontario membership year, which runs from July 1 to June 30, regardless of how many applicable Leap programs the participant registers for during that membership year.

The registration includes applicable sport accident insurance coverage while participating in Gymnastics Ontario-sanctioned activities. Once processed, the registration fee is non-refundable.

The new 45-minute Parent & Tot classes begin in October at $90 for a full month. Fees are reduced when fewer sessions are scheduled in a month, and late registrations are prorated for the remaining sessions.

Floor Tumbling & Obstacle Skills

Recommended 7+ | 1 hour

A floor-focused recreational gymnastics program for athletes who want more time to develop their gymnastics skills on the floor.

Gymnasts work through structured progressions that develop the foundations needed for strong floor skills, including body positions and control, handstands, rolls, cartwheels, jumping and landing technique, strength, flexibility and coordination. As athletes build the necessary technique and physical readiness, they progress toward increasingly challenging floor and tumbling skills.

Unlike our regular recreational gymnastics programs, this class does not rotate through vault, bars and beam. Training time is dedicated to floor skill development, with obstacle stations and conditioning incorporated to develop the strength, power, agility, spatial awareness and movement control that support gymnastics progression.

No previous gymnastics experience is required. Athletes work at their own level and progress according to their ability and readiness.
