FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Families from Markham and Stouffville can email us with questions about programs, camps, drop-ins, birthday parties, registration, or choosing the right option for their child.

When do recreational gymnastics classes run?
Leap’s regular recreational classes operate from September to June, but enrolment is month-to-month. Children may join in any month where space is available. Summer classes, camps, birthday parties and drop-ins have separate schedules and registration options.
Can my child join recreational gymnastics after September?
Yes. Children may join Leap’s recreational programs in any month where space is available. Our programs are not September-based cohorts. Coaches adapt progressions to each gymnast’s age, ability and readiness, allowing children to begin from their current level.
Is recreational gymnastics a full-year commitment?
No. Classes operate from September to June, but enrolment is month-to-month. Your child remains in the selected weekly class and is billed monthly until you choose to withdraw. Families may withdraw with 15 days’ written notice.
Can we withdraw for a vacation and return later?
Yes. You may withdraw by providing 15 days’ written notice. Once the withdrawal takes effect, future monthly payments will be cancelled. You may register again when you return, subject to class availability. Class spots cannot be held while a child is not enrolled.
How do we register?
Families can register online from any page of the site. Registration, account access, and club emails are all handled through the same family system.
Do you offer a sibling discount?
Families registering two or three siblings for qualifying programs on the same invoice receive a 5% discount on each qualifying registration.
What should my child wear to class?
Comfortable athletic wear works well. Hair should be tied back if long, jewelry should be avoided, and athletes will be barefoot in the gym.
What should my child bring?
A labelled water bottle and comfortable athletic clothing. For camp days, also bring lunch and two snacks.
Do I get a make-up class if my child is absent?

September-to-June Recreational Programs:

Students may receive up to five make-up classes during the September to June program, subject to availability.

Make-up classes must be booked in advance and are only available where there is space in an appropriate class. Availability may vary from week to week, and a specific day, time or class cannot be guaranteed.

Once a make-up class has been booked, it cannot be replaced if the student is absent from the make-up class. Unused make-ups have no cash value and do not carry over after withdrawal or into the next program year.

Competitive Fall to Spring Programs: There are no make-up classes for missed competitive classes.

Recreational Summer Programs: We offer up to 2 make-up classes for absences during our recreational summer programs. Since we run a limited number of recreational classes in the summer, make-up classes may be scheduled during one of our available September-to-June recreational classes, subject to availability.

Competitive Summer Programs: Unfortunately, there are no make-ups, refunds, or credits for missed summer competitive programs.

Camps, including PA Day, Winter Break, March Break, and Summer Camps: Unfortunately, there are no make-ups, refunds, or credits for missed camp days.

Cancellations and Withdrawals from Programs

Month-to-Month Recreational Programs

Leap’s September-to-June recreational programs use month-to-month enrolment. Families who wish to withdraw must provide 15 days’ written notice by email.

The withdrawal takes effect 15 days after Leap Gymnastics receives the written notice. Families remain responsible for any tuition payment that falls within the notice period.

Tuition for the current monthly billing period is not prorated, refunded or credited. For families paying monthly, future payments after the effective withdrawal date will be cancelled.

If tuition was paid in full, prepaid tuition for future months after the effective withdrawal date will be refunded, excluding non-refundable fees such as the Gymnastics Ontario participant registration fee.

Leap Gymnastics does not charge a cancellation or withdrawal fee.

Cancellation Before Recreational Classes Begin

Families who wish to cancel a recreational program registration before the program begins must provide 15 days' written notice by email before the first scheduled class.

If at least 15 days' notice is provided before the program begins, program fees paid may be refunded, excluding any non-refundable fees, such as the Gymnastics Ontario fee where applicable.

If less than 15 days' notice is provided before the program begins, the first month or billing period is not refundable.

Once the program has started, the regular recreational withdrawal policy applies.

Competitive Programs

Competitive program withdrawals are reviewed separately and may be subject to the terms outlined in the athlete's competitive program agreement.

Missed competitive classes are not eligible for make-ups, refunds, or credits.

Recreational Summer Programs

Recreational Summer Programs run for a shorter period and have limited class availability.

Families who wish to cancel before the program begins must submit the request in writing by email before the first scheduled class. Cancellation requests may be reviewed based on the timing of the request and program availability.

If approved, program fees paid may be refunded, excluding any non-refundable fees, such as the Gymnastics Ontario fee where applicable.

Once a Recreational Summer Program has started, fees are not prorated for missed or unused classes. Withdrawal requests after the program has started may be reviewed based on the timing of the request and program availability.

Competitive Summer Programs

Unfortunately, there are no make-ups, refunds, or credits for missed Competitive Summer Programs.

Camps, including PA Day, Winter Break, March Break, and Summer Camps

Camp spaces are reserved specifically for the selected date, week, or camp program. Due to staffing, planning, and limited availability, there are no make-ups, refunds, or credits for missed camp days.

Families who wish to cancel a camp registration before the camp date or camp week begins must submit the request in writing by email. Cancellation requests may be reviewed based on the timing of the request and camp availability.

If approved, program fees paid may be refunded, excluding any non-refundable fees, such as the Gymnastics Ontario fee where applicable.

Gymnastics Ontario Fees

Gymnastics Ontario fees, where applicable, are non-refundable once processed.

What is the Gymnastics Ontario Registration Fee?

The Gymnastics Ontario Registration Fee is an annual fee that applies to each participant registered in an applicable Leap program.

  • Why is it required? It registers the participant with Gymnastics Ontario and includes sport accident insurance coverage while participating in Gymnastics Ontario-sanctioned activities.
  • How much is it? The fee is $50 per participant and is added at checkout when applicable. It is separate from program tuition.
  • How often is it charged? The Gymnastics Ontario membership year runs from July 1 to June 30. The $50 fee is charged only once per participant during that membership year, regardless of how many applicable Leap programs the participant registers for.
